Hello I’m Ruth Reinhard, Founder and CEO of Health thru Fitness, a specialist fitness business operating out of the north western suburb of The Gap in Brisbane, Queensland. My client base typically (but not exclusively) extends around the suburbs of The Gap, Ashgrove, Bardon, Paddington, Aurchenflower and across to Alderley, Mitchelton, Ferny Grove and Upper Kedron. It really just depends on how far clients are prepared to travel.
I hope my website will inspire you to join me in building a vibrant, healthy and happy community for those living beyond 50.
A little about me
A few years ago, and after a long career that was far removed from health and well-being with its long hours, an amazing opportunity arose for me to “make a real difference” in my community in a more direct and supportive way. I wanted to take the inspiration given to me by my own personal trainer at the time and apply everything he taught me, along with my change management and training skills from my previous working life and apply them to those looking for an alternative to a gym membership.
Like many people, I struggle to include exercise time in my daily routine, and I’m not particularly comfortable with the gym scene of loud music and intimidating machines. There are many demands on my time and I have to discipline myself to stay in shape both physically and mentally just like everyone else. Sometimes I get it right but there are times I don’t! Sometimes I just listen to my body and grab a book and lay on the lounge for an hour or so to give myself a break. My biggest challenge is the humidity in the summer months so very early mornings are my favourite time to hike or swim laps. I’m really fortunate that I get a work-out while I’m instructing my classes, so I’ve got the strength training covered.
My passion is to develop an inclusive community through vibrant health, fun fitness and supportive friendships.
I choose to live in the inner northern suburbs of Brisbane and have 3 adult children and their families, including two much loved young grandsons. I am blessed to have these amazing people in my life, and they inspire me every single day to keep fit and healthy so I can be an active and positive influence in their lives.
I studied with the Australian Institute of Fitness to receive a qualification as a Master Personal Trainer and have continued to study off campus including a qualification in Aquatic Instruction. I’m also an accredited Level 1 Rehab Personal Trainer and a qualified and experienced group fitness instructor. I am an accredited Seniors Fitness Specialist which fits nicely with my passion for working with the 50+ client. My nutrition accreditation allows me to guide my clients to healthier food choices within a fitness program, and obtaining my Tai Chi for Balance accreditation in February 2017 now allows me to include Tai Chi in my class programming.
If you have been thinking of improving your health and fitness or just want to be more mobile and functional in your everyday life, and think we might be a good fit, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Yours in Health
