Group Fitness

Not sure how to get your fitness journey started?  Looking for an inexpensive way to keep fit? Love socialising with others who share your passion for keeping fit?  Wanting to include strength and functional training in your fitness program?  Perhaps your Doctor has suggested getting more exercise, Group fitness classes could be for you.

At Health thru Fitness, we believe everyone should have an opportunity to participate in some form of exercise within their budget or time and lifestyle constraints. Group fitness classes offer you a low cost option for improving your fitness and staying healthy. Making new friends is an added bonus.

I love the fun of a fitness class, and I believe it’s just as much about community as learning how to exercise safely.  I use a mixture of music and fun ways to exercise so you don’t get bored, all the time encouraging you to work towards your own goals.

Here’s what some of our clients have to say about our exercise classes:

Thanks Ruth for making exercise fun. You put a smile on our faces and a spring in our step.

Helen

I enjoy exercise, the program is good. Very caring and professional.

Hazel

The classes are always fun and within my capabilities. Ruth is a great instructor.

Strength & Function (S&F)

With no gym membership fees or contracts, the S&F  “pay as you go” classes are specifically programed for those wanting to move beyond discomfort, poor mobility, muscle weakness and limitation. In these land based classes which are run all year round, you will enjoy a variety of exercises using you own body weight, hand weights and resistance bands. Many exercises are developed around improving balance and healthy bones and include Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi inspired exercises.

You will learn from a seniors fitness specialist who is registered with Fitness Australia and has a passion for keeping her community mobile and functional.  Research on group fitness has shown that exercising in a group not only improves mood, but also builds community while improving health and wellbeing.  Participating in  2 x 60 minute Strength & Function classes each week meets the recommended advice regarding strength training for 50+ adults.

This very affordable land-based class is open to both men and women and is a great way to maintain your health and fitness.   You will enjoy 60 minutes of professional fitness instruction in each class, which is the perfect complement to your existing wellness program of walking, swimming, cycling, running, Tai Chi or Yoga. It’s also ideal for those new to exercise or returning after some time away. Bring a friend, spouse or come on your own, you will always be very welcome.

Perhaps you play a sport and are wanting to improve your fitness level or your range of mobility and functionality? I often include sport specific exercises for the most popular sports such as golf, bowls, swimming, walking, running, tennis. These classes run all year round and you can join in anytime so don’t be shy.

While these classes are specifically programmed for the active adult living beyond 50 years, it is also ideal for those younger than 50 who are looking for a safe and respectful place to begin their fitness journey. Those who are new to exercise will enjoy learning from a professional exercise coach in a welcoming environment. Almost every exercise has an easier or more challenging option, so you get to choose what’s right for you.

We also welcome the opportunity to work with your health care team to get the optimum outcome for you. Ask your Doctor if they have a HTF Referral card that entitles you to your first class free when exercise has been prescribed by your doctor.
